SUMMER CAMP 2023 – Morning Star International School

Our Summer School program has been designed by our heads of curriculum development to be both stimulating academically and recreationally, meaning our students continue to grow over  summer, whilst having fun.

 

Programme of events

 

Our programme has been designed around seven weekly themes that our students explore. Our students partake in english, maths, science, physical education, drama, art and social studies activities.

 

Swimming

 

Our students enjoy weekly visits to their local swimming pool for fun aqua games and swimming practice.

 

Kindergarten Programme

 

WEEK 1

SUMMER CAMP

We’re bringing a camping experience to Morning Star this summer. Students explore all the components of a classic camping trip.

 

WEEK 2

BLAST OFF SPACE!

3…2…1….BLAST OFF! to an exciting adventure in outer space. We will explore our solar system and beyond through a variety of art and STEM activities. Maybe we will even see an alien or two on our journeys…

 

WEEK 3

OCEAN LIFE

We’re bringing the beach to Morning Star this summer. Students dive into seaside adventures while exploring ocean creatures, building sand castles, and playing beach games

 

WEEK 4

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Green is the theme for this week as students gain an understanding of how our actions can help or harm the environment. Students will learn unique and fun ways to upcycle materials and reduce waste.

 

WEEK 5

DINOSAURS

Learn all about the mysterious lives of dinosaurs and the scientists who study them. Students read stories about pre- historic life, dig for fossils, and use clues to uncover dinosaur eggs.

 

WEEK 6

SUPERHEROES

A chance to dust off those capes and get into character. Our students get a chance to become superheroes of the week and help with our Morning Star challenges

 

WEEK 7

PIRATE ADVENTURE

Students set sail on a pirate themed voyage. They build pirate ships, search for hidden treasure, and even test their balance and coordination skills by walking the plank.

 

Elementary programme

 

WEEK 1

FABULOUS FAIRY TALES

Escape into a magical world filled with heroes and villains, dragons, sorcerers, and valiant princes and princesses. Kids will explore classic fairytales through art, literature, and drama. By the end of the week, students will have created their own fairy tales to perform to the class.

 

WEEK 2

SHARK WEEK

Come join us for a JAW-some time exploring sharks through a variety of media. Students will learn about this much-maligned animal through a variety of media. Kids will be able to create their own chomping shark, learn about different kinds of sharks, and perhaps even get to see a real-life shark at the aquarium!

 

WEEK 3

AROUND THE WORLD

Let’s take a journey around the world to find out what kids are like in a variety of countries. Through simple crafts and fun activities, the students will indulge their curiosity for exploration and nurture their sense of empathy for other.

 

WEEK 4

WEEK 5

FUN AND FITNESS

It’s a sports smorgasbord here at Morning Star! This week kids will exercise their gross and fine motor skills while enjoying a variety of games designed to build good sportsmanship, concentration, skill, speed, and strength. They’ll also be learning about the benefits of healthy eating and cooking some healthy summer treats.

 

WEEK 6

OUT OF THIS WORLD

Three…Two…One…BLAST OFF! To an exciting adventure in outer space. We will explore our solar system and beyond through a variety of art and STEM activities. Maybe we will even see an alien or two on our journey.

 

WEEK 7

CREEPY CRAWLIES

Snails, slugs, and spiders…Oh My! This week campers will explore some of the smallest and most unloved creatures on this planet. They will discover why these critters are important and actually pretty cool.

 

Summer Program

Minimum attendance is 3 times per week.

19th June 2023 – 4th August 2023
